My grandmother, Elvira COX, was born at Birch River on Sept. 16, 1896.Family tradition says that her grandfather COX was a Private wounded at Gettysburg. While he was home recovering, he was taking grain to the mill at Birch River, was ambushed by raiders and robbed. He is supposed to have been buried at the spot.Any help researching the validity of this info would be appreciated. I am also working on the AMICK and DARLING family lines. Thanks in advance for any help.
