I recently acquired an old school photo. The image shows 21 children from first to about eighth grade, plus a teacher. One of the children in the photo is holding a chalk board that says "Rose Run / 1909-1910". This is the only clue to the location.
When I ran "Rose Run" through the U.S. Geological Survey search engine a stream in Nicholas County, West Virginia came back as one of the hits. I would be happy to share a scan for you county's site, or with other interested parties (it is still possible that some of the younger folks pictured survive), but I am unsure where the Rose Run school was located.
Are you aware of a Rose Run school in Nicholas county during this period or can you direct me to someone who might know?
I hope that you will drop me a note at the e-mail noted below if you have any thoughts on this mystery.
Thanks,
Edward Carter
