Descendants of Walter Farmer ROOP (1883-1971) and Rebecca Jane CLONCH (1886-1950) live in Nicholas County but I haven't made contact with them. Would like to pass on information on Walter's ancestors to them. Researchers have been able to trace his ancestors back to Johann Jacob RUP b. 1663 in present-day Northern Alsace, France. Walter's children were: James (b. ca. 1903), Lacy (b. ca. 1904), Myrtle Hazel (1906-1997), Walter Gordon (1910-1984), Edith Estelle (living), and Alfred (1919-1981). My grandmother Myrtle married Fred Rothwell DEMPSEY and had 7 children including my father Fred Roosevelt DEMPSEY. Walter came with his parents Gordon Washington ROOP (1862- 1930) and Milla Susan PETERS (1856-1891) from Floyd Co., VA to WV before the birth of their next child Charles Turner ROOP in 1885 in Raleigh Co. Would appreciate hearing from anyone related to Walter Farmer ROOP. Thanks.
