I am seeking info on a man who lived in the 20 Mile Creek area/Belva area around the early 1940's. I don't have a name but he was well known as a notorious drunk and theif around Belva. He served time in prison shortly after 1940. He was sentenced to around 15-20 years. There is a story about when his mother or grandmother died. The family placed old coins on the woman's eyes ( an old custom) and he stole the coins from the lady. The family filed charges and he was sent to prison. Another story is that he stole money from his mother and she filed charges. Anyway he was sent to prison and wasn't released until about the early 1960's. He was about 18-20 years old when he went to prison. When he was released he went back to his drunken ways ( and stealing ). He supposedly died in 1962-5 in a housefire up by Vaughn ( maybe Summersville ), possibly a brother died also in the fire. He somehow started the fire when he was drinking. His last name possibly started with " W ". He had blackish, wavy hair and dark brown eyes.
If anyone has any info on him and can give me his name, I would greatly appreciate it.
