1. Lelia Clingman Humphries, born 08 January 1888 in Pool, Nicholas Co., West Virginia; died 04 October 1969 in Phoenix, Maricopa Co., Arizona. She was the daughter of 2. William Harvey Humphries and 3. Lucinda Ott. She married (1) Irvin Starling Amick 27 December 1905 in Nicholas Co., WV. He was the son of Samuel Amick and Martha Jane Dorsey.

Notes for Irvin Starling Amick:

Moved to Waverly, VA, and bought a farm early 1932, same year as Charles Tuck, Jr. was born to Irma and Charles Tuck. Irma and Charles lived at Beard's Fork, above Montgomery, but moved back to Rainelle before Charles, Jr. was born Dec. 1932.

When John Bee Hambrick was born to Leathel, Irma was 9 years old, and Lelia and Irvin lived with Grandma Humphries. Irvin farmed a lot during this time and worked periodically on the road being built from Nallen to Summersville. Uncle Walter was a bachelor, and there was some conflict between him and the rest of the family pertaining to the running of the farm.

Lelia went to be with Leathel when John Bee was born in Charleston, WV, and took Marylene with her. This was in 1925. Leathel taught school for one year in Clay County. She had her pre-school certificate. She married Hambrick and moved to Charleston where she worked in a factory.

There was a motor car that ran from Meadow Creek to Nallen and the Amicks used it to visit in Nicholas County until Irvin bought a car. The Amick girls rode the motor car from Dwyer to Rainelle for 2-3 years when attending school in Rainelle. Lelia used to tell about the conductor announcing the stop at Rainelle by announcing "Rainelle! This is Rainelle!"
